Welcome
to the on-line tour of the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village.
As you wander through the exhibit building and Loockerman Landing
Village, you will find that Delaware's farmers and their communities
forged technological advances with ingenuity and a sense of community
out of necessity. Here is the evidence of the so-called simple
life... a life of sharing, invention, back breaking work,
and compassion for the land and the people around them.
Explore
the Main Exhibit Hall
and the technological advances made by Delawareans and the
industries they founded, made flourish, and in some cases,
lost. Use the navigation to the left to focus on the different
aspects of life represented in the Museum.
Move
outside to Loockerman Landing
Village. This representation of a rural village in 1890s allows
the visitor to wander through a community frozen in time. Visit
the store, whose proprietor has just stepped out; the farmhouse
with the table set for the evening meal; the schoolhouse, where
lessons have been interrupted for the day...perhaps by a special
meeting at the church? Walk through the life of a Delaware farmer
on the cusp of a new century...
Now, surf through the exhibit, Your Food, Our Farms, a special online exhibit funded by the Delaware Industrial History Initiative of the Delaware Humanities Forum. Your Food, Our Farms seeks to connect us all—as food consumers—with the industry that supplies this, our most basic need.
