Gather the kids, the grandparents, friends and neighbors and come out to the DAMV and visit our barnyard pets, Lulu, the pot-bellied pig; and our chickens, Lizzy, Lilly, Lucy and Licorice.  Lulu loves visitors. Especially visitors with food! Her favorite foods include cooked broccoli, pitted apricots, cucumbers, dark green lettuce, cooked potatoes, beets, grapes, pumpkins, all squashes, zucchini, unsalted peanuts, snow peas, spinach, yams, kale, TOMATOES (she LOVES tomatoes), pears, apples, berries, oranges, melons, pitted cherries and pitted peaches. HOWEVER, as with all mini pot-bellied pigs, Lulu must watch her weight because her leg joints can fail if she gets too heavy. So, please only feed her a few pieces during your visit.  After feeding Lulu, be sure to also visit our feathered friends Lizzy, Lilly, Lucy and Licorice.  Lizzy is a Silkie.  She has fluffy plumage, which feels like silk.   Like Lulu, our chickens also like to be fed.  They will eat birdseed, as well as fruits like peaches, watermelon and cooked pasta (which btw, is super funny to watch Lilly eat). Visitors are welcome to go into the pens and pet and feed the animals (just close the doors behind you).  Lulu has taken her passport and headed to her winter residence where it is warm all winter long.  She said "adios and see you in the spring".  The other barnyard pets will miss her but look forward to her return.
